Hiero tech specs.

Hiero and HieroPlayer support all major operating systems and have low hardware system requirements.

Supported operating systems

For full details on the requirements for GPU Acceleration see the release notes.

Windows 10 (64-bit only)

macOS Mojave (10.14) or macOS Catalina (10.15)*

CentOS 7.4, 7.5, and 7.6 (64-bit only)

**Note: Other operating systems may work, but have not been fully tested

*32-bit QuickTime codecs are no longer supported on macOS Catalina

Minimum hardware requirements

Processor:x86-64 processor, such as Intel Core 2 Duo or later

Storage:5 GB disk space available for caching and temporary files

Ram:At least 8 GB RAM

Display:At least 1280 x 1024 pixel resolution and 24-bit color

Video card:Graphics card with at least 512 MB of video memory and driver support for OpenGL 2.0. *

*To enable optional GPU acceleration of Viewer processing, you need OpenGL 2.0 with support for floating point textures and GLSL.

Requirements for GPU Acceleration - Windows and Linux

If you want to enable Nuke to calculate certain nodes using the GPU, there are some additional requirements. See the Release notes for full details of requirements for GPU acceleration.

NVIDIA

An NVIDIA GPU with compute capability 3.0 (Kepler) or above.

Graphics drivers capable of running CUDA 10.1 or above. These are bundled with the regular drivers for your NVIDIA GPU. Driver version 418.39 for Linux or 418.96 for Windows or above is required. We recommend using the latest graphics drivers, where possible.

AMD

The following GPUs with an appropriate driver are supported. See the release notes for details on support available in specific versions of Nuke.

  • AMD Radeon RX 480
  • AMD Radeon Pro WX 7100
  • AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100
  • AMD Radeon Pro SSG
  • AMD Pro WX 8200

*NOTE: Other AMD GPUs may work, but have not been fully tested.

See the Release notes for full details of requirements for GPU acceleration

Mac GPUs

Integrated AMD GPUs are supported on any late 2013 Mac Pro, mid 2015 MacBook Pros onward, and late 2017 iMac Pros onward, including an Enable multi-GPU support option. When enabled in the preferences, GPU processing is shared between the available GPUs for extra processing speed. Bitwise equality between GPU and CPU holds in most cases, but for some operations there are limitations to the accuracy possible with this configuration.

Add-on GPUs

AMD cards in eGPU set-ups for Mac OS 10.13.5 and later. The Sonnet eGFX Breakaway box and BlackMagic eGPU have both also been tested with Nuke.

An NVIDIA GPU with compute capability 3.0 (Kepler) or above, running OS X 10.13.6 'High Sierra' (see below and the Blink API documentation for caveats on CPU/GPU result consistency on Mac Pros). Graphics drivers capable of running CUDA 10.1 Update 1 or above. These are available from NVIDIA. Driver version 418.163 or above is required. We recommend using the latest graphics drivers, where possible.

Nuke Studio tested hardware

Nuke Studio is currently tested on the HP Z workstation series running CentOS 7 and Windows 10. Nuke Studio 12.0 is compatible with the following certified components with an HP Z840.

Processor2 x Xeon Gold 6136 CPU

RAM128GB DDR4-2133 (8x16GB) 2CPU Registered RAM

Internal system drives1 x 256GB NVME PCIE HDD

GPUNVIDIA Quadro P6000

Video monitor outputAJA Kona 4K or BMD DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G

Realtime playback is currently tested with the following internal storage accessories:

Drives8 x Samsung SM863 960GB

Dock2 x HP B8K60AA - 4 Bay SSD carrier

Raid cardLSI Megaraid ROC 9270-8i

Raid cable2 x Avago 05-26113-00 0.6 Meter internal cable SFF8643 To X4 SATA HDD (MINI SAS HD)

Raid typeRAID 5, Always write-through, with a 256k Stripe size

*Please note: For real time playback, we recommend the clips in a sequence are RGB 10 bit DPX or EXR with Zip1, DWAA, or DWAB compression, localized to fast storage (see specs above). In the case of complex or multi-format timelines, sequences must be cached using the Timeline Disk Caching feature, with the cache set to the fast storage (see specs above). This feature simplifies the sequences to a single EXR file sequence allowing for playback at higher frame rates. See the release notes for additional info.
